We are known for philosophizing about skateboarding a lot - like nerds with a serious attitude. When I got this book in the mail unannounced I thought "Toward a what the f***k?!". Once I flipped through the pages and found an image of one of our MobMaps, skateboard spot maps which we used to include with our MetroMob series of boards, I dimly remembered having given permission to someone to reproduce the image for an architectural thesis.

So, now, here it was and given a skateboarders attitude, I wasn't afraid to take on the challenge of this literal El Torro. I like to read books I don't understand - it can be exciting like an intellectual tornado ripping the roof off of your brain. I didn't make it far in though. This book is for the serious freaks - and I don't mean that in a bad way. If you are interested in architecture and how it relates to society and like to take a single thought ("How are play and games architected?") and wring 400 pages out of it - this is your brick wall. Good luck breaking through with a toothpick.
If you still want to experience the cleansing power of the brain tornado and if you are interested in skateboarding and architecture, there's only one book I can think of: "Skateboarding, Space and the City - Architecture and the Body" by Iain Borden. Available where brain tornados are sold. ISBN 185973493-6
